Igatpuri Vipassana Meditation Centre

Igatpuri Vipassana Meditation Centre

Igatpuri is a wonderful village on the foot hills of Western ghats. its roughly 3hrs drive from Mumbai. This week end we planned to visit the Vipassana research institute enroute to Bhandardhara. We started at around 7 in the morning and reached Igatpuri around 10am. We are welcomed by a Huge tibetian style entrance called the Myanmar Gate. The whole style of architecture and the silence we felt around was so soul inspiring. This Vipassana research institute in Igatpuri is a branch of the Math founded by S.N.Goenka. Its called Dhammagiri and offers course in Vipassana meditation techniques. We need to register for the course well in advance through email.  You can learn more about the courses offered and the tradition through their website. www.dhamma.org.

There are absolutely no charges collected for these courses and runs mainly on donations. If you are selected for the main 10 day vipassana course, you will be intimated through mail. Everyone who have attented these courses have said great things about how it changed their course of life.
We spend almost an hour inside the math getting more details about the courses and going around the places and getting to click some memorable pictures.
